Update

Things have been pretty calm here lately.  Jason is on a "dead period" for baseball this past week and next, so life has slowed down a bit.   He has been playing  A LOT of golf which he loves.   He doesn't get to play in the spring because of baseball so he plays a lot in the summer and fall.  He likes to do charity tournaments too.  He and his buds use golf for "guy time" and get competitive like little kids. It is hilarious!

We went to mom's this past weekend and had a great time.  I got to see my friend Jennifer from high school who is expecting her first child. Jason played golf with her husband Josh and we all had dinner at my favorite restaurant, Harvey's.  It was so fun to see Jennifer. We have been friends our whole lives and have been through a lot of things together.  I am so happy that we have stayed friends and can experience having kids together.  I have stayed close with about 3 friends from school and now we all will have kids.

The most excited thing that has happened this week is that my friend Carissa had her baby girl Mariella Marie.  She weight 6 lbs 11 inches and was 20 inches long.   She is so beautiful.  It brought back so many memories of when Chase was a newborn.  He was so tiny and she seems so tiny.  I remember how scared I was that we would break him.  In a few days she will look like a baby and not a newborn. Time flies so fast.   I know Carissa will be a great mom and Brad will be a great dad.   They are in for the joy of their life, but also have a lot to adapt too.  God is so good to give us such a miracle as children.

Chase goes back to the gastro doctor on the 16th.  I pray that they do not have to examine him again.  That torments me and I left the room and cried the last time and made Jason stay in there.   I really don't want to take him back, but I know we have too.
He is getting a little better with going to the bathroom, but it is still hard.  Since we found out about Chase's stricture, I have talked to so many more people whose baby had the same problem.  I had never heard of it before.   This picture is one where I put the hat and sunglasses on him for fun. I LOVE to put him in hats, but he doesn't care for it too much.  He sure does look cute!  He has started making spit bubbles, giggling, and "talking" to us.  He is the most precious gift God could have ever given us.

Finally, our cat, Little Man, has this string he is very attached to. He brings it and wants you to throw it for him.  He will fall asleep with it in his mouth and also brings it in the middle of
the night for you to play with him.  It is hilarious.  Here, Chase is taking a nap and Little Man took Chase the string, layed down by him, and waited on him to throw it.  He doesn't understand that Chase can't throw the string.  It is so funny!!

Shots!!

Yesterday we took Chase to the pediatrician for his 2 month check up.  All is great!  He is "growing like a fiend" according to the doctor.  He is only about 2lbs shy of a full-term 2 month old so he is catching up well.

I am sad to admit that I chickened out on the shots.  I saw those needles...4 of them to be exact, and ran like a girl!  I left daddy with Chase to go make the appointment for his 4 month shots and it was over by the time I finished with that.  He had 4 sticks in his legs and one oral vaccination.  He is better at pain that I ever will be.  He only cried while they were giving the shots and was over it in seconds.   He is a big, brave boy!  A lot more so than mom!  I know I have to suck it up and get over being so squeamish for his sake, but daddy is strong and for now, he is having to handle the hard stuff.

We go to the gastro doctor tomorrow for a check up on that.  Hopefully, he won't have to have any more treatments.

Father's Day

Chase is 2 months old today!  It is neat that this milestone happened on Father's Day.  Jason had a nice 1st Father's Day with Chase. They watched the US Open Golf Tournament together after church and lunch.  He was ready to spend a day with him.   We were at my mom's till Friday and then Jason had to be at baseball all day on Saturday so he hadn't really seen him since Wednesday.  Chase and I got Jason a massage for Father's day.  He has to throw a lot of batting practice and ground balls at practice so he gets sore.   All of the golf he has been playing lately probably adds to it too! He really deserves to be pampered.   He is such a great dad and helps me more than I could ever say.  I would be a zombie without him.   Chase and I are so lucky to have him in our lives.

Anyway, tomorrow Chase will get his first round of vaccinations.  I hear that this is going to be painful and not fun at all for any of the three of us.   I just hope that he takes them well and doesn't feel horrible afterwards for days.   On Wednesday, Chase has to go back to the gastro doctor for a check up.  I really dread this week for him.  I am praying that none of this makes him feel too bad.  He is getting such a cute personality and smiles a lot so I don't want to have to see him hurt or be in pain and miss those smiles!

As for Jason and I...not much is going on with us except for taking care of Chase and baseball games.  Jason just finished 2 weeks of teaching camp and I teach some training sessions for teachers this week, but that is about it.  We are looking forward to Jason's "dead period" for baseball after this week.  He gets two whole weeks off with no practice or anything...it will be joyous!!   I don't know what we will do with all of the time together!

Chase is 8 weeks old!

Chase will be 8 weeks old on Tuesday.  We can't believe how much he has grown and how much weight he has gained since birth!  He will catch up soon with the other babies.  It is hard for me to believe that some babies are born as large as he is now!  We are so enjoying him. He has become a lot more active and stays awake for a lot longer.   Chase has begun to smile and grab things.  It is so fun.

We have found out that Chase has acid reflux and some other stomach problems.  We went to a pediatric gastro specialist and everything is getting much better with some Prevacid for the reflux.  He is like a new baby.

Jason and I pretty much have had a busy summer so far.  We have been busy taking care of Chase for the most part. Jason is coaching summer baseball.  He has had 2 weeks of camp in the mornings, practice, then a game at night so he has been really busy with that. The summer is an opportunity for Jason to see what they will have for a team for the next season since the seniors have left. Jason has been spending his free time playing golf with his nephew and friends.  The summer is about the only time he gets to play.  He has plans to help his friend coach golf at Bartlett High in the fall.  He will love getting to play with the kids a few times a week.   As for me, I will be teaching 3 days of technology classes to teachers in a couple of weeks.   I need to be better prepared for it than I am if I ever have time to sit down and get ready for it!  I also have made a couple of trips to Saltillo to my mom's and she has came here several times.  I try for her and my grandmother to see Chase once a week since I am off in the summer and can go.

Here are a couple more pictures of Chase.  My friend Jennifer took all of these this past Friday. The link to her blog is in our links list.
