Day Out With Thomas the Train

I went to my mom's this past weekend to take Chase to Birmingham to go to the Day Out With Thomas event at the Calera Railroad Museum.   It was about a 2.5 hour drive from Tupelo so not too bad.   My mom, grandmother, Chase and I all had a wonderful time. It was worth the trip for sure.  Chase is not a huge Thomas freak, but he LOVES trains.   They had a lot of activities including put put, a tent with lots of train tables, temporary tattoos, storytelling and a video, and music.   There were tons of things to do an you could spend hours and not get bored. I may take him back in September when it comes to Nashville.  We stayed at the Drury Inn and Suites...What a deal!  They have the 5:30 Kickback, which was our supper and a GREAT hot breakfast in the am.  I will try to stay at one of those anytime I can.  It is worth the money of a hotel when you get supper and breakfast included.    Chase enjoyed the pool and hot tub.  I went to the HUGE Summitt mall to get a piece of Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake while he was swimming with my mom and I want to make a shopping trip just to that mall some time!  It would be a great girls weekend trip for sure!   Here are a few pics of our weekend.  A lot of pics are on my mom's camera and I have to get them off soon.

We got to ride Thomas for 15 minutes.  We were in the car with the open windows called Fresco.  It was comfy and fun!

Chase didn't want to sit right by the window, but he did like looking out of it

Thomas pulled us down the track!

Chase liked Putt Putt!  I can't wait to really take him to play somewhere.

He would have stayed in this tent forever!  Lots of train tables.  Notice he is playing with the train he got in the gift shop from the Train Museum and not a Thomas train on the track.  He loves that train!

They had this little small steam engine train that rode around the real track  It is sort of like the one at the zoo, but bigger.  I think he liked this better than Thomas.

I was standing to the side so I didn't get a good pic, but I bought the one they took as a magnet and it was a great picture of him.

A little bit of sad news...Jason's sweet grandmother passed away over the weekend while I was gone.  I went to see her Friday morning in the hospital and I knew it would be soon. She was ready to go be with Jesus and I am confident that she is in heaven looking over all of us.   She adored Chase so much and we adored her.  She was one of a kind for sure.

This picture was on Halloween last October.  Granny, we will miss you and your memory with live on forever!  We love you more than you know!
