Kidney Stone

No pictures with this post, but I wanted to document my joyous kidney stone episode.  I woke up to go to the bathroom at 5 am on August 14th.   I felt a sharp pain that would not stop.  By 5:30, the pain was horrible so I woke Jason up.   I drove to the ER, he drove Chase to Jane's and met me there.  After about waiting for an hour, I got a CAT scan and it showed I had a large kidney stone, 6mm.   You can't pass one more than 5mm.   I went home with an appointment to see an Urologist that afternoon.  I was in solid pain for 6 hours.  The pain meds, Diladid, didn't touch the pain.  I stopped taking them since they were not helping.   It was determined that I would have outpatient surgery the next day to remove the kidney stone.   I went in early on the 15th for surgery at 6 am.   They did used a cytoscope to take a basket and pull the stone out.  I woke up with it on my chest in a vile...Nice present!  They also left me another present, a stent to allow the ureter to heal.  That stent was no fun.  It poked me for a week and made me feel like I had to go to the bathroom constantly.  I finally got it out on Thursday, August 23rd.  I felt like a new person!    I have a 5.4mm one in my other kidney that the doctor wants to do Lithotripsy on to break it up so it will pass in small pieces.  I am trying to hold out to do that for a few months.

I am thankful to my sweet husband and family who took the best care of me.  My mom and grandmother came to stay with me for a few days to help out.  Jason and I had a much easier time since they were there and his mom stopped by to help out too.   It took me several days to feel like myself again.  The pain was like none I had ever experienced.   I am glad it is over and I am back to 100%!
