Well, it has happened!  My baby has grown up!   He had his first day of Kindergarten on Thursday, August 8th.  He was so nervous all week.  He would say he didn't want to go and then would worry about it.  Finally, the night before, he said that he was excited and wanted to go.  A few of our friends went this week as well, so that pumped him up.   I expected tears from him (and me for sure), but he did not shed one tear.  He was a big boy and had a really great day!  We got there and checked out the before care area.  He will go there before school to play, etc while we have to be at work early.  The teachers told the story of Pete the Cat Rockin' in His School Shoes.  They went around the building looking for clues to find the cat and sang a song that went with the book.  He had lunch and had a really good day.  He was excited!  Me, working in educational technology, was excited to see a Promethean board in his room!  I attended the K meeting today and realized that my boy is now in school!  Its a happy, but different world.  He has a great teacher, Mrs. Waller.  One of the boys he liked at stagger day is in his class so that will make him happy.  The other little boy he played with will be in before care with him.  I know he will learn so much and have so much fun!   I did cry a little.  Jason provided some comic relief by asking me if they were going to give him back or keep him so I realized that he is still my baby at home!   We went to Jerry's to celebrate his first day of school.  With him starting K also means the end of our special times at Mama Jane's.  I know we can visit and I know we live close to her, but boy, I sure we all love her to death and think of her as a grandmother to Chase.  I will make sure to take him over to visit her often.  I will need to visit with her as much as he will!
Here are a few pictures of his first day as a Kindergartener!
Playing in Mama Jane's tree the day before his first day of K
He said his "smile" was not awake yet
He woke up at the donut shop!  His favorite thing to do!
Walking into school..boy..this was harder than I thought
Waiting with all of our supplies to go in and meet the teacher.
Checking out the classroom for the first time
Chase wanted Jerry's Snocone's.  His cousin Parker and girlfriend Lauren came with us!  Made his day!
