Circus Time!

Chase had his first circus experience Saturday night.  My mom and grandmother came to town to go with me to take him since Jason had a game.   Chase, all of the sudden, is "acting" scared of some things.   I am not sure that is the case totally.  Like...if I WANT him to speak to someone, he won't want too and hides behind me, if it is total stranger, like the nurse in Granny's room, he won't leave them alone.  I think he is doing it to show his will, but I am not sure yet.  Anyway, he would not talk to the clown.  I know many kids are scared of clown, but I think it is more because I wanted him to see the clown than he was scared.  He would not participate in the pre-show where he could have hula hooped, danced, etc.  He did watch it.  All Chase was concerned about was getting one of the million toys the people were carrying around.   He was a little upset that he didn't get to ride the elephant.  Not scared to ride an elephant, but won't talk to a clown.  I just don't get it.  They were not having elephant rides, which I told him before that he might get to pet the elephant (website said close encounter or something), but not ride it, but they didn't really bring it close enough to touch.  

The show started and he like the ponies, dogs, and trapeze artists, but did not pay attention during the in-between parts or for the strong man.   He kept complaining that it was loud and it was.   He was ready to leave by intermission, which was like 8:15 and I was fine with getting home at 9 instead of 10.  I think all-in-all, he enjoyed it.    He came away like a bandit with 2 grandmothers present...he got a whirly light up thing, a hat, and a sword...oh and an icee in a clown cup.  I just shake my head when they can't tell him no!    It was a great night with family and a great first time at the circus!

Of course..no pictures of me!   I am the picture taker and forget to get someone to take a picture of me with Chase.   Next up for us...more baseball and Chase's 4th birthday!  My mom, J's mom, and whoever else goes in will be buying Chase a small backyard swing set so watching Jason put that together will be more than entertaining!  Ha!
